At Kansai International Academy, we provide a bilingual education appropriate for each child’s age and development.
During infancy, the right brain is dominant, allowing children to immediately and intuitively absorb the English from what they see and hear, which makes it the perfect time to start learning.
Providing visual stimulation through flashcards boosts creativity and enhances balanced cognition by stimulating their right brain.
Japanese classes begin around the age of three which is when they begin producing more words. For these children whose language is developing rapidly, it is especially important to build a foundation in their first language (Japanese) so that they can reach a developmentally appropriate level. Building a solid foundation in their first language helps children learn basic language skills which helps them learn English as a second language.
At elementary school, they learn each subject such as UOI (unit of inquiry) and mathematics in both Japanese and English. The school provides a bilingual education in which students learn in English rather than learning English.
For students who live in Japan and use Japanese as their first language, building a foundation for language leads to acquiring a second language.
As they develop their first language, their cultural identity takes shape, deepening their language and thinking abilities and leading to self-confidence. Students can approach learning a foreign language with confidence when they are feeling self-assured.
At secondary school, students study abroad for one year.
Their openness to new experiences means that studying abroad for one year will benefit them in the future. They will be able to think in new ways and identify areas for improvement through self-reflection and reinventing themselves. The curriculum includes supporting the students before, during and after their time studying abroad so that they can gain new perspectives and return feeling more confident.
Throughout the 18 year program, Kansai International Academy develops the students’ thinking skills in Japanese, as well as their language skills in Japanese and English. The school also nurtures their self-expression skills through art and ICT education.
The goal of Kansai International Academy is to nurture leaders who can express themselves and inspire others.
